Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1 egg
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk and butter together until warm (about 110-115 degrees F).
- Add the milk mixture and egg to the flour mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the remaining flour and mix until the dough is easy to handle.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- Punch the dough down and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the loaf in a greased loaf pan and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Bake the bread for about 30-35 minutes, or until it is golden brown.
- Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack.
